The 2017 Wright Memorial Dinner

The Aero Club of Washington hosts the annual Wright Memorial Dinner, which honors that year’s recipient of the National Aeronautic Association’s Wright Brothers Memorial Trophy, on the Friday closest to December 17 – First Flight Day. This gala, black-tie event attracts hundreds of attendees every year and is one of Washington aviation’s biggest celebrations.

The 2017 Wright Memorial Dinner honored Gen. J.R. “Jack” Dailey, USMC (Ret.), Director of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and recipient of this year’s NAA Wright Brothers Memorial Trophy. He was recognized for “his courageous and dedicated service to the country and his commitment to sharing the history and technology of aviation and space flight with present and future generations.”

The Aero Club’s Wright Memorial Dinner was held on Friday, December 15, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. The gala reception was followed by dinner and presentation of the Trophy.
